About Danielle Petre Night Nanny

I’m Danielle, a night nanny supporting families in Buckingham and the surrounding areas, offering calm, experienced and compassionate care during those early weeks and months with your baby.

Danielle Petre - Night Nanny

This isn’t just a job for me.

Working with families, especially in those early days with a new baby, has always felt natural to me.

I’ve been around children for as long as I can remember.

I was always the one looking after younger siblings, cousins, and then moved into working in crèches, nurseries and nannying roles as I got older.

It’s something I’ve never really stepped away from.

Years of hands-on experience

After completing my childcare studies, I went straight into working with families.

That included:

  • nannying for multiple families

  • working in nurseries and childcare settings

  • proxy parenting roles where I was fully responsible for children day and night

Over time, I found myself naturally working more and more with babies, and particularly with families who had twins.

That’s where I realised this was the area I really loved.

Finding my place in maternity and night support.

I went on to train further in maternity care, and began supporting families overnight.

That’s where everything really clicked for me.

Being able to step in during the night, support both baby and parents, and help bring a sense of calm into what can feel like chaos… that’s what I love most about what I do.

Becoming a mum changed everything.

My own journey into motherhood wasn’t straightforward.

I went through IVF and experienced multiple losses before having my children.

That experience changed me.

It gave me a much deeper understanding of just how precious and overwhelming this time can be, and how different every family’s journey looks.

It also means I approach every family I work with gently, with empathy, and without judgement.

How I work with families.

No two families are the same, so I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach.

Everything we do is based around:

  • your baby

  • your routines

  • your preferences

  • your situation

We talk things through, we adjust as we go, and we work together to find what works best.

What matters to me.

The most important things for me are:

  • that you feel supported

  • that your baby is safe and cared for

  • that things feel calmer and more manageable for you

I always follow safe sleep guidance and best practice, so you can feel confident your baby is in safe hands.

Beyond that, I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. I use different methods of sleep and feeding support depending on what works best for you and your baby.

Dani came to us as a night nanny for three days a week from when our daughter was six days old until she turned four months. She bonded well with the baby, who was comfortable with her. Within a couple of days, Dani had a good read of her, bringing her down to me at night for a feed at the perfect time – i.e. stretching it out as long as possible, but handing her over before she was really fussy.Dani was also good adult company and I enjoyed our many chats as my daughter fed. Given her wealth of experience with other people’s children, as well as her own, she’s an excellent font of knowledge and full of good tips and tricks.Dani is a conscientious professional. She was always on time (except once with good reason, and gave fair notice). She is adaptable and happy to work with the parents’ preferences. She cares as much about the mother’s well-being as she does the child’s.If we were to have a second child, we’d ask her back without hesitation.

You don’t have to figure it all out on your own

If you’re feeling unsure, exhausted or just need someone to help you through this stage, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to do it all by yourself.

If you think having some support overnight would help, the best place to start is a conversation.

We can talk through what’s going on, what you need, and how I can support you.
